Sexta, a guesthouse in Sexten

Five peaks keep the hours here. At noon the sun stands over the Zwölfer.

The village is named after noon. We kept the clock.

Sexten is said to take its name from sexta hora, the sixth hour of the Roman day. Above the Fischleintal five peaks mark the hours from nine to one, and farmers once read the time from them. The house still runs on it: breakfast while the sun is on the Neuner, packed lunches ready by the Elfer.

Rooms by the hour

Every room is listed by when the sun reaches its window. Early risers take the Neuner side.

Walk into the Fischleintal to the hut at its end and the whole sundial stands above you, nine to one. From there the path climbs to the Drei Zinnen. We pack lunch the night before.
